Here's bethesdas official Gstaff response: Scroll down in this link to see official response from Bethesda support. It's confimed by bethesda that it's running in "Ultra Quality", but any noticeable difference appears to be from the swtich from a different, modern renderer in this release. the new DOOM 3 option clearly effects entire world and object lighting as well.Īlso, The game is NOT stuck in "high quality" only. Overbright isn't new in itself, but its not been an option in Doom 3 before, and was used in a different manner in other titles for bloom and radiance. setting overbright to "1" from its default "2" setting will turn it back to vanilla doom 3 lighting. ![]() Apparently this is what id was referncing when they talked of a new lighting update. ![]() There's some discussion going on over at the Bethesda DOOM forums, that apparently the new lighting algorithm is not age-old "r_lightscale" but a new option called "r_overbright" that controls the new lighting mode. I should have posted this sooner as I did over at steam. ![]()
